Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioners have filed application for rental compensation with interest on the enhanced amount of compensation. The AGP submits that if the application for rental compensation is already filed, the Special Land Acquisition Officer can decide the issue on its own merits.

In case, the petitioners have filed application for rental compensation with the Special Land Acquisition Officer, the Special Land Acquisition Officer shall decide the application on its own merits, in accordance with law, and after hearing all the parties concerned, preferably within nine months.

The S.L.A.O. shall also consider the merits of

contentions of either of the parties about entitlement of the petitioners to claim rental compensation on the enhanced amount.
