Petitioners claim to belong to reserved category and, on the strength of caste certificates issued in their favour, they have been admitted to respective engineering colleges and are pursuing engineering degree course. 2.
Petitioners claim that the caste certificates issued in their favour have been forwarded to the Scrutiny Committee and the proposals in respect of verification of caste certificates issued in their favour are pending consideration with the Scrutiny Committee. As a result of failure of petitioners to tender validation certificates, the University has not declared their result and as such, they have been prohibited from securing admission to the next year course. In these facts and circumstances, these petitions can be disposed of by directing the Scrutiny Committee to take decision on the caste certificate verification proposals of respective petitioners, as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of one year from today and, it is accordingly directed.

It is informed that results of petitioners in Writ Petition nos. 7950/2016 and 7951/2016 for first year engineering course have been withheld so also result of second and third year degree course in respect of petitioner in Writ Petition No. 7955/2016 has been withheld. Respondent - North Maharashtra University is directed to declare result of petitioners forthwith. Respondent-colleges are directed to permit petitioners to secure
admission in the next year degree course on fulfilment of other eligibility conditions and, they shall not be denied admission to the next year degree course merely on the ground of their failure to submit validation certificate. Admission of petitioners to engineering degree course shall be subject to the outcome of the caste certificate verification proposals pending with the Scrutiny Committee.
