The petitioners are the depositors of respondent No.5 - Cooperative Society soliciting steps to be taken under Section 4 and 5 of the Maharashtra Protection of Interest Depositors (in Financial Establishments) Act, 1999 (the MPID Act).

It appears that by communication dated 15.02.2024, the District Magistrate, Beed had submitted the requisite proposal to respondent No.1 - the State Government for taking necessary steps inter alia informing about registration of crimes under Sections 3 and 4 of the 1/2

We dispose of the writ petition by directing the respondent No.1 to take appropriate decision on this proposal dated 15.02.2024 (page No.192), if it has not already been taken, as expeditiously as possible and in any case within six weeks.
