The petitioner is challenging the communication dated 29.04.2024, issued by Headmaster rejecting his proposal for correction in the school record. Petitioner solicited correction in his name as well as place of birth which was wrongly entered in the school record. His proposal was rejected solely on the ground that he is ex-student of the school.

The Headmaster under Rule 26.4 of Secondary School Code, is to forward the proposal to the Education Officer. He has no jurisdiction to reject the proposal on the ground stated in impugned order.

Writ Petition is disposed of by quashing and setting aside communication dated 29.04.2024 and directing the Headmaster to forward the proposal to the Education Officer within one week. Respondent no. 3 / Education Officer shall decide it within one week further.
