We have heard Mr.Ghute Patil, learned advocate for the petitioner. The learned advocate submits that the respondents have deliberately and willfully disobeyed the order dated 26.02.2020 passed by this Court in Writ Petition No.1554/2017.

The learned A.G.P. submits that the decision has been taken on the proposal on 8th December, 2021. Post of Supervisor has been rejected but the request of the petitioner for additional teacher is recommended to the Government by the Director of Education as the powers are with the Government.

There is inordinate delay in deciding the proposal. The reason given by the learned A.G.P. is that because of Covid-19 pandemic, the decision could not be taken.

The reason does not appear to be convincing as the other activities were in progress. The Director of Education ought to be diligent in complying with the orders of the Courts. We do not approve such lethargy on the part of the Director of Education in delaying the decision. The decision is taken belatedly and probably the same appears to have been served upon the petitioner.

Considering the fact that the decision is now taken though belatedly, the contempt petition is disposed of. The petitioner certainly can assail the orders adverse to his interest. No costs.
