The petitioner seeks correction of surname in the HSC certificate. The surname of the petitioner in SSC certificate is correctly typed. 2.
According to the learned counsel for the petitioner, the spelling of his surname is "Sheikh" whereas, in HSC certificate the same is typed as "Shaikh".

We have heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and learned counsel for the Board.

Considering the anomaly in the SSC certificate and HSC certificate issued by the Board, we find that there should not be any
2 1007-wp 2675-2021.odt impediment for correction of surname in the HSC certificate of the petitioner. The other record also bears the spelling as "Sheikh" of the surname of the petitioner.

In the light of the above, the Board shall take steps to correct the surname of the petitioner as "Sheikh" in place of "Shaikh". The same shall be done expeditiously and preferably within a period of one (01) month from today.

The name of the petitioner be corrected in HSC certificate in tune with SSC certificate.

Writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
