The petitioner is requesting to initiate contempt action against the respondent for disobeying the order passed by this Court on 18-07-2024, whereby the Committee was directed to decide the proposal of the petitioner within a period of three weeks from that day.

Learned Advocate for the petitioner has his own reasons to convince us, however, the written communication sent by the respondent to the learned APP, which has been placed on record,

{2} CP 730 OF 2024 states that the enquiry by the vigilance cell is pending and therefore, it will take atleast two months to decide the caste claim of the petitioner.

It appears that the petitioner had approached Committee late when the proposal was given on 20-11-2023 and it appears that the petitioner approached this Court by filing writ petition on 16-07-2024. We are taking note of the fact that many proposals/claims are pending before the Committee and therefore, there would be some delay in deciding the claims, but it has to be decided as per the procedure. We, therefore, direct the Committee to expedite the work of vigilance cell.

The Officer heading the vigilance enquiry to submit the report within a period of two weeks from today. Copy of the report, if the Committee feels, should be given to the petitioner and the petitioner be asked to make submissions on the same and we expect that the Committee would decide the proposal within a period of 45 days from today.
