The petitioner who runs a pharmacy college has been waiting for approval for the post-graduate M.Pharm course and has requested for 15 seats for three subjects Pharmaceuticals, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharaceutical Quality Assurance. However, the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) granted approval only to 6 seats per branch.

The petitioner preferred an appeal within the statutory time limit, however, due to technical deficiencies, it could not be filed in the format as is required through new DIGI-PHARMed portal. However, appeal was preferred by mail on 25-07-2023.

Learned advocate for the petitioner submits that the admissions are to be undertaken and the petitioner is in urgent need of the decision by the PCI.

Learned senior advocate Mr. S.B. Deshpande for the PCI, on instructions, submits that the petitioner's appeal would be decided in accordance with law.

We dispose of the petition by directing the respondent no. 2 to decide the appeal as expeditiously as possible and in any case within two weeks.
