Petitioner claims to be belonging to Hindu Mahar caste which is included in Scheduled Caste category. She has been elected as a Councillor of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation during the election conducted in the year 2016. Since petitioner has been elected as Councillor as against the seat reserved for Scheduled Caste category, caste certificate issued in her favour has been referred to respondent no. 3 - Scrutiny Committee for verification. It is informed that the caste certificate verification claim of petition is pending with respondent no. 3 - Committee and no decision has been arrived at yet. Petitioner apprehends adverse action against her on account of her failure to submit validation certificate within a period of six months from the date of her election. 2.

In the circumstances, this petition can be disposed of with

{2} wp10299.17.odt directions to respondent no. 3 - Committee to take decision on the caste certificate verification proposal of petitioner as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of four months from today and, it is accordingly directed.

In the meanwhile, in view of order passed by the Hon'ble Apex Court in SLP No. 29874-29875 of 2016, no adverse action be taken against petitioner on the ground of her failure to submit validation certificate.

With the directions as above, writ petition stands disposed of.
