Mr. A.V. Hon, learned advocate for the petitioners submits that the Municipal Council has passed the resolution on 24.8.2020, granting exemption from payment of taxes on account of lock down imposed during the Covid-19 pandemic. The same is also forwarded to the Collector on 7.9.2020. The learned counsel submits that subsequently the Collector has forwarded the same to the State Government. But, the State Government has not yet taken decision on it.

The learned Government Pleader appears for the respondents.

In case, the proposal could have been passed by the Municipal Council, granting exemption from payment of taxes on account of lock down imposed during the Covid-19 pandemic and is pending with respondent No. 1, then the respondent No. 1 shall decide the same on it's own merits and in accordance with law, preferably within six months.

Writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
