Mr. Thombre, the learned counsel for the petitioner submits that, initially proposal was forwarded to the Caste Scrutiny Committee for verification of his caste claim, however, after the elections are over, same is not decided. 2.

Mr. Patil, the learned Additional Government Pleader submits that, as per Rule 11 of the Maharashtra Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes (Regulation of Issuance of Caste Certificate) Rules 2003, the petitioner can independently apply. 3.

In case, proposal is not pending with the Committee, then the petitioner may apply independently for verification of his

2 wp 10660.17 caste claim. If such an application/proposal is made for verification of his caste claim, the Committee shall hear and decide the same on its own merits. The writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
