The petitioner, who claims to be a Director of respondent No.4 sugar factory, submits that the tenure of five years of the elected body is over on 12.7.2022. The elections are due and respondent No.3, the State Co-operative Election Authority, Maharashtra State, Pune, has to conduct the elections.

Shri Dighe, the learned advocate representing respondent No.3, submits in the light of the communication dated 29.7.2022, addressed by the authority to the Managing Director of respondent No.4 (petitioner claims to be it's Director), that there are thousands of societies, whose elections are due. Those societies, whose tenures are over in 2020 and 2021 would be given first preference. So also, those societies, whose tenure have concluded on or before

After these elections are held, the elections to more than 15000 societies, whose tenure have concluded on or after 1.4.2022, would also be subjected to elections. Shri Dighe, the learned advocate relies upon the decision taken by respondent No.3 on 29.3.2022 (5 pages), which is marked as "X" for identification.

Considering the above, we find that there is a herculean task before respondent No.3. It would not be pragmatic to issue directions to hold elections within a time frame. Since the authority has made a statement that the elections would be held in phases, we record this statement and this petition, therefore, is disposed off. (SANJAY A. DESHMUKH, J.) (RAVINDRA V.
