1] Heard learned counsel for the parties.

2] The petitioner lost out to be appointed as a Police Patil to the 4th Respondent who had less marks than him on account of there being seven criminal cases registered against him.

3] As per the law declared by the Supreme Court of India in the decision reported as (2016)8 SCC 471 Avtar Singh V. Union of India and others, we find the view taken by the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal in the impugned decision that a person of such a character would be unfit to be appointed as a Police Patil, is correct. 4] The Writ Petition is dismissed.

5] No costs.
