Present petition has been filed for following relief :- B.
By issuing writ of Mandamus or any other appropriate writ, the respondent may kindly be directed to effect correction in surname of the petitioner in the record of public notary maintained by it and the certificate of the public notary bearing registration No. 33277 dated 20/01/2025 issued by it in favour of the petitioner, as "Shirurkar" in place of old surname Waghmare and to issue the certificate of public notary in favour of the petitioner in corrected name, within stipulated time.

Learned Advocate for the petitioner submits that the petitioner had completed his LL.B degree in 1989 and got himself
enrolled with Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa as Advocate on 10.08.1989. He practiced till 26.08.2001 thereafter he came to be appointed as Law Officer in Tribal Development Department of State of Maharashtra on 27.08.2001. After rendering service over 19 years as Law Officer, he stood retired on superannuation on 30.06.2020. When he had enrolled himself and practicing as an Advocate, at that time his surname was 'Waghmare' however, thereafter he has got correction of his surname from 'Waghmare' to 'Shirurkar'. After his retirement he again applied for resumption of his Sanad/Certificate as an Advocate and he made application to Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa on 17.12.2020 who has allowed him to resume his practice as an Advocate.
The petitioner also states that he has made changes in his surname as required in office gazette and thereafter, it has also changed in his Adhar Card, Pan Card, Election Card, etc. He made application to the Bar Council also for change in the name and accordingly a standing certificate has been issued on 19.03.2024 by the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa. In the year 2021, he had made application for appointing him as a Notary Public to the respondent. Of course, his Sanad was in the name of Waghmare therefore, he had applied under the same surname.

Learned Central Government Counsel for the respondent upon instructions, submits that the respondent has no objection subject to the fact that the petitioner who change his surname in all those records which he has annexed with his application for notary public. 5.
Since, the learned Advocate for the petitioner makes a statement that in all those documents he has changed his surname, we dispose of the writ petition with direction to the petitioner to resubmit the hard copies of the entire bunch of documents to the respondent within a period of one week and after considering those documents, the respondent to issue the certificate to the petitioner with his changed surname within a period of four weeks thereafter.
