Heard both the sides. There is a delay of 1450 days in preferring the appeal by the acquiring body challenging the judgment and order passed by the reference court under Section 18 of the Land Acquisition Act.

True it is that the delay is enormous, however, considering the grounds mentioned in the application and taking into account the fact that even the claimants are impugning the same judgment and award, the delay is condoned.

The learned advocate for the acquiring body seeks a further period of two weeks to deposit the amount of award together with interest which is condition precedent for grant of stay.
