We have considered the submissions of the learned Advocates for the respective sides.

A short issue is raised before us. The Petitioner's online application for contesting the selection to the post of Gramin Dak Sevak is not being considered as, according to the Department, there is a discrepancy in the contents of the personal details of the candidate in the online form vis-a-vis her SSC certificate/ statement of marks.

The learned DSGI has strenuously opposed the

We find from the online application form that there is a column, which requires the candidates to fill in the father's/ mother's name. The Petitioner has rightly entered her mother's name. She opted for the mother's name, which cannot be faulted as the Department itself gave an option to the Petitioner to write either the father's or mother's name. In this backdrop, details did not match with the SSC certificate/ marks memo which carry the father's name of the Petitioner.

We find that there is no scope in the personal details column to enter the surname. If there is no specific column/ box to write the surname, the Petitioner cannot be faulted. 6.
In view of the above, this Writ Petition is allowed. The impugned order dated 14.09.2023 passed by Respondent No.3 is quashed and set aside. We declare that the form of the Petitioner be accepted. Needless to state, at the time of document verification, entire documents presented by the Petitioner can be scrutinized by the concerned Department.
