1] The petitioner seeks leave to correct the name of the petitioner. Leave granted.

2] The petitioner has filed an application for correction of caste in the school record of the petitioner. 3] The school record can be corrected only if it is the case of the obvious mistake. Reference can be made of the judgment by Full Bench of this Court in the case of Janabai d/o Himmatrao Thakur Vs. State of Maharashtra and others, reported in 2019 [6] Mh.L.J. 769. 4] Learned AGP accepts notice for respondent nos.1 to 3.

14218.21WP 5] In case the petitioner has filed proposal for correction of caste in the school record, then the Head Master shall forward the said proposal to the Education Officer within a period of eight [8] weeks from the date of service of present order upon him. The Education Officer, upon receipt of the same, shall consider the application / representation for correction of the caste in the school record, on its own merits, in accordance with law and considering the judgment of the Full Bench in the case of Janabai d/o Himmatrao Thakur [supra], the same shall be decided preferably within six [6] months from the date of receipt of the proposal.

6] Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
