Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner had approached the Education Officer by filing an application for change of sub-caste in the school record of the petitioner. The same is not entertained. Learned Advocate submits that clause no.26.4 of the Secondary School Code is applicable. Reliance is placed on a judgment in the case of Janabai Himmatrao Thakur Vs. State of Maharashtra and others reported in 2019 (6) Mh.L.J. 769.

As per the judgment of the Full Bench, if there is an obvious mistake, then, the Education Officer can entertain the application, after the student has left the school. 3.

In light of that, the Education Officer shall decide the representation of the petitioner (page14), on its own merits and in accordance with law, expeditiously.
