1] The application for correction of the date of birth in the school record of the petitioner appears to have been rejected on the ground that the petitioner has left the school.

2] The Full Bench of this Court in case of Janabai Himmatrao Thakur Vs. State of Maharashtra reported in 2019 [6] Mh.L.J. 769 has held that obvious mistake can be corrected even after the student has left the school. 3] In the light of above, the impugned order is set aside. The Education Officer shall re-consider the said proposal seeking correction of the date of birth in the School record. If it comes to the conclusion that it is the

1645.22WP case of obvious mistake, then the Education Officer can entertain the proposal, on its own merits, in accordance with law.

4] Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
