3.

The petitioner is objecting for formation of new electoral divisions and electoral colleges

2 35-wp11586.odt and inclusion of villages Umbri and Balapur in Jorve electoral division, for the purpose of holding elections of Zilla Parishad.

4.

The reason assigned by the Election Commission for inclusion of the above referred villages is increase in number of electoral divisions after the preceding elections which were held in the year 2012. During the preceding elections, there were 8 electoral divisions and 16 electoral colleges. However, during year 2017, 9 electoral divisions and 18 colleges came into existence, which necessitated change in geographical constitution of electoral divisions and electoral colleges.

5.

The reason assigned by the Election Commission appears to be just and probable. We are, therefore, not inclined to entertain the petition in exercise of extra ordinary jurisdiction under Article 226 of the Constitution of India. The

3 35-wp11586.odt petition is devoid of substance and as such, stands rejected.
