The petitioners seek determination of rental compensation and interest for their acquired lands, trees and other structures. Such reliefs are being sought under Section 34 of the erstwhile Land Acquisition Act, 1894. It is stated that pursuant to the award dated 15.05.2008, the application filed by the petitioners for the said purpose dated 03.08.2016 is pending with respondent Nos.2 and 3.

The learned advocate for the petitioners submits that the direction may be issued to decide the said application expeditiously.

The learned AGP submits that Section 34 of the Land Acquisition Act as set out in the prayers, has nothing to do with the cause of action stated by the petitioners. 4.

In view of the above, this Writ Petition is disposed off.

We expect respondent Nos.2 and 3 to deal with the said application filed by the petitioners strictly in accordance with the rules/law applicable, preferably on or before 31.01.2023.
