The grievance of petitioners is for award of compensation in relation to their lands being taken possession way back in the year 2008 for the construction of canal. 2.

Mr. Lakhotiya, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent - State authorities informs that on 7th October, 2022 the Special Land Acquisition Officer - respondent no.3 has already informed the Superintendent of Land Records to carry out measurement. According to him, if petitioners are entitled for compensation in accordance with law and their lands are used for the purpose of aforesaid project, compensation shall be paid within a reasonable period.

In this view of the matter, we dispose of the petition with directions to respondent nos. 1 to 4 to complete process including that of joint measurement and in case petitioners' lands are affected, take the acquisition proceedings to its logical end within the statutory period.
