The learned Counsel for the petitioners submits that the petitioners are not paid rental compensation. The petitioners have applied to the acquiring body for payment of rental compensation.

In fact, the application has to be fled to the Special Land Acquisition Ofcer for grant of rental compensation. It is the Special Land Acquisition Ofcer who, after hearing the claimants and the acquiring body, would decide the application for rental compensation on its own merits. The Special Land Acquisition Ofcer has to consider all the relevant aspects of the matter.

Petitioners may fle an application with the Special Land Acquisition Ofcer for grant of rental compensation. If such

{2} wp13548.19.odt application is fled, the Special Land Acquisition Ofcer shall decide the said application on its own merits considering all relevant aspects and after hearing the petitioners and the acquiring body expeditiously, preferably within nine months from the date of fling of the application.
