The petitioners are seeking payment of compensation in respect of acquired land. According to the respondents, the petitioners were encroachers on the Gayran land and their encroachment has not been regularized.

It appears that proposal is forwarded for regularization of encroachment by the petitioners. The Collector shall take decision on the proposal seeking regularization of ownership of the petitioners over the Gayran land on its own merit. The said decision shall be taken within a period of six months.

Depending upon the decision that would be taken 1/2

by the Collector, further decision with regard to the payment of compensation pursuant to the award dated 13.03.2007 would be be taken.

Writ petition is accordingly disposed of. No costs.
