This is an application for condonation of delay of 598 days in filing First Appeals by the land owners under Section 54 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894.

Having regard to the fact that the matter pertains to the Land Acquisition Act, I am inclined to condone the delay on the condition that the land owner/applicant will not be entitled for interest on the amount of compensation, if any, that may be enhanced (market value + statutory benefits) for the period of delay as also subject to the condition that cost of Rs.1,500/- be deposited with the Registry i.e. the Committee consisting of learned Registrar (Administration) of the High
