The petitioner which runs a Child Care Home and was duly registered under the provisions of Juvenile Justice Act, 2000 has been seeking renewal of the permission in the light of the provisions of the successor Act of 2015. Its proposal/request has been pending with the authorities since the year 2018.

In the matter of Mother Teresa Balakashram Vs. The State of Maharashtra and others in Writ Petition No. 7821/2021 and connected matters decided on 08.09.2022 this Court had directed the authorities to take appropriate decision on similar request by different institutions running child care homes and if necessary by extending an opportunity to each of them to comply with the shortcomings.

The writ petition is disposed of by directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's request (Exhibit 'C' dated 03.09.2018) on its own merits and in the light of the observations in the matter of Mother Teresa Balakashram. The decision shall be taken as expeditiously as possible and in any case within six weeks from today.
