The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the application for correction in the school record in the caste column is rejected solely on the ground that the petitioner has left the school. The learned counsel submits that the Full Bench of this Court in a case of Janabai Himmatrao Thakur Vs. The State of Maharashtra dated 17.10.2019 in Writ Petition No. 8085 of 2017 has held that in case of obvious mistake the Education Officer can consider the application even after the petitioner has left the school. 2.

Considering the above, the impugned order is quashed and set aside. The Education Officer shall reconsider the proposal of the

2 64-WP13011-19.odt petitioner on its own merits, in accordance with law after considering whether it was a case of obvious mistake and shall not reject it only on the ground that the petitioner has left the school. 3.
