The only prayer made by the petitioner in the instant petition is for a direction to the Scrutiny Committee to decide the caste claim of the petitioner within a time frame.

Shri Ambarish Joshi, the learned Assistant Government Pleader appearing for the Scrutiny Committee, states that the caste claim of the petitioner is pending before the Scrutiny Committee and the same would be decided as early as possible. It is stated that there is a shortage of Vigilance Officers in the respondent-Scrutiny Committee and hence, the caste claims cannot be decided within a time frame. It is stated that it is not possible for the respondent-Scrutiny Committee to decide the caste claims expeditiously in the absence of Police Officers to act as Vigilance Officers in the enquiry. In the circumstances of the case, since the only prayer made by the petitioner is for a direction to the Scrutiny Committee to decide the caste claim of the petitioner expeditiously, we dispose of the writ petition with a direction to the Scrutiny Committee to decide the caste claim of the petitioner within fifteen months. Order accordingly. No costs.
