This is an application moved on behalf of the respondent for permission to deposit rent for the year 2020 before this Court.

It appears that dispute between the parties was referred to mediation for exploring the possibility of settlement. The effort at settlement did not work out. By order dated 18/12/2018, the respondent was permitted to deposit rent for the year 2019, before this Court.

Although the respondent has prayed for grant of permission to deposit rent for the year 2020, Prity

2 / 2 905.caw1040.2022 on instructions, the learned counsel appearing for the respondent submits that permission for depositing rent for the years 2021 and 2022 may also be granted during the pendency of the writ petition.

The learned counsel for the petitioners submits that even if such permission is to be granted, it should be without prejudice to the rights and contentions of the petitioners.

In view of the above, the application is allowed. Consequently, the respondent is permitted to deposit rent for the years 2020, 2021 and 2022 before this Court within a period of six weeks from today. The deposit of the said amount shall be without prejudice to the rights and contentions of the rival parties.

The application is disposed of.

The Writ Petition be listed for further consideration in the 2nd week of July, 2022.
