DATE : 29.11.2016.

The only prayer made by the petitioner in the instant petition is for a declaration that the orders dated 22/01/2016 should be kept in abeyance till the elections to the newly constituted municipal council are announced and conducted.

It is brought to the notice of this court by the learned counsel for the respondents that the elections to the municipal council are conducted on 27/11/2016. It is stated that the cause for filing the writ petition is rendered infructuous, as the elections are conducted. Since the elections are conducted and since the only prayer made by the petitioner is for keeping the impugned orders in abeyance till the elections are conducted, the purpose for filing the petition stands served.

Hence, we dispose of the writ petition with no order as to costs.
