The Superintendent of Central Prison, Nagpur is personally present before this Court. He submits that there was a reason for delay in the present case. According to him, the Authority - D.I.G. (Prisons), Nagpur was on leave during the relevant period of time and his charge was kept with D.I.G. (Prisons), Amravati and there was some office delay in sending the application of the petitioner together with police report to the office of D.I.G. (Prisons) Amravati. He also informs
2 Cri.W.P.201.2021 Ord. the Court that yesterday evening, an application of the petitioner was granted partially and the petitioner has been given parole leave of 10 days to enable him to attend marriage of his younger brother.

Learned A.P.P. has placed before us a communication dated 09.03.2021, stating that the petitioner has been granted emergency parole for 10 days.

Since the petitioner has been granted emergency parole for 10 days, the purpose of the petition is over and the petition needs to be disposed of accordingly.

However, before disposing of the petition, we would like to request the I. G. (Prisons) to look into the matter and take immediate steps for removal of delays which are now-a-days occurring in considering and disposing of the applications seeking emergency parole, regular parole and furlough by the concerned Authorities. If required, the matter may be taken up with the Additional Director General of Police (Prisons), State of Maharashtra, who may issue a circular prescribing the time frame within which such applications be decided by

The learned Registrar(Judicial) is requested to send the copy of this order to I. G. (Prisons), Nagpur and also the Additional Director General of Police (Prisons), State of Maharashtra for information and necessary action in the matter.
The Writ Petition is disposed of in the above terms.
