NOVEMBER 15, 2016.
Heard Shri A.K. Bhangde, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mrs. K. Joshi, learned APP for the respondents.
The challenge in the present matter is to the order of preventive detention. The period of detention is to expire on 19.11.2016. Rule nisi has been issued on 11.03.2016. The matter was listed for final hearing on 05.10.2016 and thereafter on 20.10.2016. The learned APP alone has appeared for the State on both these dates and the counsel for the petitioner has remained absent. Considering these facts, we had adjourned the matter to today. The period of detention expires in this week only. In this situation, without observing anything on merits of the matter, we dispose of the present writ petition as infructuous. Rule discharged. No costs.
