DATE : 18.04.2016 By this writ petition, the petitioner seeks a direction to the respondent no.2 to consider the application of the petitioner for grant of passport in her adoptive name.
It is the case of the petitioner that she is given in adoption to her real uncle and the Adoption-Deed was registered before the Sub-Registrar, Nagpur on 22.9.1997. It is stated that though the petitioner is desirous of seeking the passport in the changed name as per the Adoption-Deed, the respondents are not considering the application of the petitioner. Shri A.M. Joshi, the learned Counsel for the respondents submitted that a passport could be issued with the name of the parents who have allegedly adopted the petitioner only if the petitioner furnishes the appropriate Adoption-Deed along with the
1804wp1610.16.odt mandatory documents, as such birth certificate, address proof and identify proof, the details of which are provided on the website. It is stated that if the petitioner files an application, as required by law, the respondents would consider the same.
Shri Sahare, the learned Counsel for the petitioner states that the petitioner would make an appropriate application by complying with the requirements.
In view of the statements recorded herein above, we dispose of the writ petition with a direction to the respondent no.2 to decide the application, if made by the petitioner, as early as possible, in accordance with law.
Order accordingly. No costs.
