By this criminal writ petition, the petitioner seeks a direction against the respondents to release the petitioner forthwith as the petitioner has served the sentence for a period of not less than fourteen years.
It is stated that though the petitioner had applied for releasing the petitioner after having served the sentence for fourteen years in terms of the guidelines that are applicable to the case of the petitioner, the respondents have not decided the application.
Shri Joshi, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents, states that if the respondents have not decided the application of the petitioner, the same would be decided as early as possible.
In view of the statement made on behalf of the parties, we dispose of the criminal writ petition with a direction to the respondents to decide the application of the petitioner for releasing the petitioner in accordance with law
WP221-17 within three months and release the petitioner if the application is allowed. No costs.
