Hearing was conducted through Video Conferencing and the learned Counsel agreed that the audio and visual quality was proper.

Issue notice to non-applicant, returnable after three weeks. Learned A.P.P. waives notice for non-applicant.

The applicant is arrested for commission of offence punishable under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. It is alleged that the applicant/ accused, who is serving as a Police Sub Inspector has allegedly demanded bribe for removal of
encroachment and was caught red handed while accepting the bribe amount of Rs. 1 lakh.

The applicant/accused has prayed for grant of interim bail. It is submitted that the applicant has met with an accident and now he is using a walking stick. The applicant is at the verge of retirement. The applicant has also contended that in the current pandemic Covid-19 situation, he is entitled for interim protection.

Already the trap was conducted and obviously panchnama was prepared on the spot itself. Having regard to the nature of crime, the applicant is entitled for interim protection. Hence, the following order :
(i) The applicant/accused -Rajesh Keshavsingh Thakur be released on interim bail on his furnishing P.R. Bond in the sum of Rs.25,000/- with one or two sureties in the like amount.
(ii) The applicant/accused shall attend the concerned investigating agency / Anti Corruption Bureau on every Monday and
Thursday in between 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon till further orders.
(iii) The applicant/accused shall provide his residential address and cell number to the concerned investigating officer. Similarly, he shall not change his place of residence without prior intimation to the concerned Investigating Officer.
(iv) The applicant/accused shall not directly or indirectly make any inducement, threat or promise to any person acquainted with the facts of the case.
