Hearing was conducted through video conferencing and the learned counsel agreed that the audio and visual quality was proper.

The applicant is apprehending arrest in Crime 550/2019, registered with Police Station Akot File, Akola, for offence punishable under sections 135, 138 of the Indian Electricity (Amendment) Act, 2003.

While protecting the applicant, this Court (Coram : V.M. Deshpande, J.) noted that there is already a report assessing the units of electricity illegally consumed. It is further noted that the applicant has already paid the amount towards the units allegedly illegally consumed. 4.

In any event, custodial interrogation is not necessary and if the interim order is made absolute, there is no likelihood of the investigation been hampered.

The interim order dated 18.8.2020 is made absolute.

6.

The applicant shall not, directly or indirectly, make any attempt to influence the witnesses or otherwise tamper with the investigation.

7.

The applicant shall not leave the country without the permission of the trial Court.
