Brother of the petitioner - Shantanu and cousin of the petitioner - Darshan have been held to belong to "Raj" Scheduled Tribe pursuant to the judgment of this Court in Writ Petition No. 5380/2021 (Shantanu Prabhakar Mungalkar and anr. Vs. State of Maharashtra and ors.) on 28.12.2021.

In this backdrop, the petitioner seeks expeditious consideration of his tribe claim. The petitioner is a student and hence has prayed that the Scrutiny Committee be directed to consider his tribe claim expeditiously.

Considering the earlier adjudication by this Court in the case of the petitioner's real brother, Scheduled Tribe Caste Scrutiny Committee, Amravati is directed to complete the verification proceedings and decide the same within a period of one month from the date of the petitioner's appearance before the Scrutiny Committee.
