WRIT PETITION NO. 5495/2018.

Anil Sheshrao Kardekar -VERSUSAmravati Municipal Corporation, Amravati. Office notes, Office Memoranda of Coram, appearances, Court's orders Court's or Judge's Orders or directions and Registrar's orders.

CORAM : B.P. DHARMADHIKARI & M. G. GIRATKAR, JJ.

DATE : AUGUST 29, 2018.

Heard Shri H.R. Gadhia, learned Counsel for the petitioner.

2.

Petitioner a Deputy Commissioner of State Excise, has approached this Court for changing name of the area in which he resides. Submission is, in Amravati town there are areas by name 'Chaprasipura' and 'Hamalpura'. Petitioner therefore, submits that these names are derogatory, and therefore, needs change.

3.

Petitioner has already made a request to the Corporation and Corporation has on 16.06.2017,

Order 2908wp5495.18 asked him to furnish some details and also propose a new name.

4.

We find no substance in the contentions being raised. Petitioner could have opted to settle in some other area, if he is so much concerned about the name. Name of areas mentioned supra cannot be seen as derogatory at all.

5.

We also clarify that it is open to the Municipal Corporation to proceed further in the matter, if it so desires, as per law. We accordingly, reject the present Writ Petition. No costs.
