The applicants are the mother-in-law, the sister-in-law and the husband of the sister-in-law of the complainant on the basis of whose complaint Crime 398/2020 is registered with Police Station Mankapur, Nagpur for offence punishable under section 3 and 4 of Dowry Prohibition Act and under section 406, 420, 494, 498-A read with section 34 of the Indian Penal Code and under section 3 and 4 of Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019.

The allegations are quite general in nature and the primary grievance appears to be as against the husband, who allegedly was married when the marriage with the complainant was solemnized.

In any event, no case for custodial interrogation is made out.

The interim protection granted vide order dated 09.11.2020 is made absolute with the only modification that till the charge-sheet is filed, the applicant shall attend the concerned police station as and when required by the Investigating Officer.
