This contempt petition was filed by the petitioner stating that this Court ought to take cognizance of alleged contempt committed by the respondent for willful disobedience of the judgment and order passed by One Member Grievance Committee constituted under a Government Resolution.

On 01.10.2021, this Court issued notice in the present contempt petition. The respondent has appeared through the counsel and placed reliance on the judgment of the Hon'

In the said judgment, it has been held that such a Grievance Committee is neither a judicial nor a quasi-judicial body. It is held that orders passed by such Committee are merely recommendatory in nature.

The aforesaid judgment makes it amply clear that contempt of order of such a Grievance Committee cannot be alleged. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner fairly concedes to the position of law highlighted on behalf of the respondent. Nonetheless, he submits that the petitioner may be granted liberty to pursue such remedies as may be available in law.

In view of the above, the contempt petition is dismissed.

Needless to say, the petitioner may avail of such remedies as may be available in law.
