Rule. Rule made returnable forthwith. Heard finally by consent of the learned counsel appearing for the parties. 3.

It is the contention of the learned counsel for the petitioner that there are several validities existing in the family and therefore, as per Rule 12 of the Maharashtra Scheduled Tribes (Regulation of Issuance and Verification of) Certificate Rules, 2003 the petitioner is entitled to be issued caste validity certificate at the earliest. 4.

It seems that the application filed by the petitioner for issuance of the validity certificate is under consideration of the respondent-Committee. We are not aware of the stage at which this proceeding is pending before the respondent-Committee. However, taking into consideration the submissions made across the bar on behalf of the petitioner, we are of the view that in a matter like this, the proceeding could reasonably be concluded within a period of eight weeks.

Accordingly, we direct respondent-Committee to decide the caste/tribe claim of the petitioner in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of the order. Rule accordingly. No costs.
