Heard.

The claims of the petitioners as belonging to caste 'Mahadeo Koli' are still not invalidated. The petitioners, therefore, seek protection till such orders are passed by the Caste Scrutiny Committee.

This Court has not issued notices. However, when the matters were called out in the morning, Mr.Abhijit Deshpande, learned Counsel present in the Court only to assist the Court, sought time till 2.30 p.m. Upon instructions, he states that respondent no.1/Committee shall take suitable decision on the caste claims of the petitioners, in accordance with law, within nine months.

121wp4477.13 In view of the above statement, we direct the respective petitioners to appear before respondent no.1/Committee on 23.2.2015. Respondent no.1 shall, thereafter, attempt to complete verification in accordance with the provisions of the Maharashtra Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, De-Notified Tribes (Vimukta Jatis), Nomadic Tribes, Other Backward Classes and Special Backward Category (Regulation of Issuance and Verification of) Caste Certificate Act, 2000, as early as possible and in any case, within the next nine months.

Status quo, as on today, in relation to employment of respective petitioners shall be maintained till the Caste Scrutiny committee passes a final order on their caste claim.

The petitions are, thus, partly allowed and disposed of. No costs.
