The claim of the petitioners is that the post acquisition of their lands pursuant to Section 9 notice issued under the provisions of the Coal Bearing Areas (Acquisition and Development) Act, 1957, the Rehabilitation and Resettlement Policy of Coal India Limited 2012 ('
the R&R Policy of 2012') provides for employment, provided the conditions therein are satisfied.

In case if the petitioners satisfy the conditions provided in the R&R Policy of 2012, it shall be binding on the respondent Nos.1 and 2-Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) to consider and grant employment to the petitioners.

An assurance is given to this Court by Shri Anand Jaiswal, learned Senior Advocate, assisted by Shri C.S. Samudra, Counsel, appearing for the respondent Nos.1 and 2-WCL that in case if the claims are made by the petitioners for grant of employment, based on the R&R Policy of 2012, the same shall be dealt with on their own merits expeditiously and in any case within a period of three months from the date of such applications being moved.
