By this writ petition, the petitioner had challenged the provisions of Section 10-1A of the Maharashtra Village Panchayats Act. The petitioner had challenged the communication of the Tahsildar cancelling the membership of the petitioner to the Gram Panchayat for not submitting the caste validity certificate.
It is stated on behalf of the respondent no.7 that during the pendency of the writ petition, the petitioner is disqualified. It is further stated that the term of office of the member of the Gram Panchayat is five years and the period of five years shall expire within a couple of months. It is stated that though this Court had initially granted interim relief in favour of the petitioner, the order granting interim relief was vacated by the order, dated 04.02.2014.
From the statements made by the learned counsel for the respondent no.7, it appears that the cause for filing the writ petition is rendered infructuous due to passage of time.
WP4905-13 Hence, we dispose of the writ petition with no order as to costs.
