CORAM : B.P. DHARMADHIKARI & ROHIT B. DEO, JJ.

JULY 05, 2017.

Heard Shri A.S. Kilor, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mrs. K.S. Joshi, learned Additional GP for the respondents, for some time.

2.

Shri Kilor, learned counsel submits that certain portion in Transport Permit (TP) generated digitally with Bar code is written in hand. According to him, though it could have been avoided, in certain contingencies, the respondents may have justification for adding it in hand writing. However, if GPS is installed and activated, the movement of laden and unladen vehicles can be traced and any malpractices can be avoided. He submits that in that event, the Bar code will become more effective. He is relying upon the guidelines issued by the Union of India in 2015.

3.

Though the petitioner has specifically raised this grievance, the respondents have not commented upon it in their reply. The learned Additional GP submits that it being

4.

We, accordingly, grant the government time of three months to take suitable decision and to find out why GPS cannot be made compulsory on such sand carrying vehicles.

5.

With these directions and keeping all rival contentions upon, we dispose of the present Public Interest Litigation with no order as to costs.
