The petitioner who is an 'Assistant Lecturer' at the respondent no.5 College has approached this Court praying that the respondent nos. 1 to 4 who are the Authorities under the Maharashtra Public Universities Act, 2016 (for short, 'the said Act') be directed to take appropriate steps in the matter of discrimination in the employment of the petitioner and harassment caused to him.
It is seen that Shri Sant Gadgebaba Amravati University, Amravati through its Vice-Chancellor had constituted an Enquiry Committee to look into the matter. The report of the Enquiry Committee has been submitted by observing that cognizance was not liable to be taken on the complaint made by the petitioner.
We find that under Section 79 (1) of the said Act, it would be open for the petitioner to approach the Grievances Committee in that regard. In view of aforesaid, liberty is granted to the petitioner to make appropriate grievance before the Grievances Committee under Section 79(1) of the said Act. If after adjudication by the Grievances Committee under Section 79(1) of the said Act the petitioner still remains unsatisfied, he is at liberty to further take appropriate steps in the matter.
