By this petition, the petitioners seek a direction to the respondent no. 1 to release the ex gratia amount of Rs. 9,98,247/- to the petitioners towards the acquisition of the property with interest at the rate of 12 % per annum.

The learned counsel for the petitioners states that after filing of the writ petition, the State Government has released the said amount. It is stated that the State Government has, however, not paid any interest on the said amount and a direction may be issued to the State Government to pay the interest.

Since the ex gratia amount stands paid to the petitioners, the grievance of the petitioners stands redressed substantially. As regards the claim of the petitioners for interest, this Court is not inclined to direct the respondents to pay interest on the said amount, more so, when there was some dispute .....2/-
