The petitioner has sought for police protection which was rejected by Police Superintendent, Yavatmal vide order dated 14.06.2023. Undisputedly, the decision was not taken by the Committee constituted under the Maharashtra Witness Protection and Security Act, 2017. The petitioner's main grievance is that he is the witness in the case which was under the provisions of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act and by the time, charge-sheet has been filed.

Having regard to the above situation, the petitioner undertakes to apply to the appropriate Committee within a period of one week for grant of police protection. In turn, the Committee shall decide the same within the period of two weeks thereafter, in accordance with law.
