The challenge in these writ petitions is to the Government Notification dated 28/04/2015 along with certain circulars/office orders issued by the respondents in the matter of renewal of licences under the Legal Metrology Act, 2009.

During the pendency of the proceedings, the respondents have filed affidavit dated 25/01/2016 in which it has been stated that on 18/12/2015 the Hon'ble Minister, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection has passed an order directing the Licensing Authority to take a fresh decision by reviewing the earlier decision in cases where the renewal of licence has either been cancelled or where the proceedings are pending. It has been further stated in the affidavit that the process of review would be completed within a period of three months and a report to that effect would be submitted to the Controller, Legal Metrology.

By accepting the statements made in paras 3 and 4 of the affidavit, the writ petitions are disposed of. There would be no order as to costs.
