Heard the learned counsel for the petitioners. According to him, though the petitioners are entitled to 'equal pay for equal work' and there are various judgments, including the judgment passed by this Court in Writ Petition No.2222 of 2002 and connected matters, on 15th February, 2019, the respondents are not extending the similar benefit to the petitioners. Be that as it may, before extending such benefit, the eligibility of the petitioners will have to be looked into by the respondent No.2.

Hence, the petition is disposed of by passing the following order : (i) The respondent No.2 is directed to decide the question of eligibility of the petitioners within four weeks from the date of this order.

(ii) If the petitioners are found eligible, the respondent No.2 is further directed to forward the proposal of the petitioners to the respondent No.1 within four weeks thereafter. (iii) The respondent No.1 is directed to take appropriate decision on the proposal of the petitioners in accordance with the judgment passed by this Court in Writ Petition No.2222 of 2002 and connected matters on 15th February, 2019, within eight weeks thereafter.

2 WP-8202-2025.odt (iv) If the respondent No.1 finds favour with the proposal of the petitioners, appropriate action of disbursement shall be taken within twelve weeks thereafter.
